Office of the Chief Coroner, Team Leader, Residential School Deaths Investigation Team

Mark is the Team Leader of Residential Schools Death Investigation Team reporting directly to the Chief Coroner of Ontario. He is leading the Coroner’s investigation into 426 reported residential school deaths in Ontario. The Coroner’s mandate is to ensure no death in Ontario goes overlooked, concealed or ignored. The objective of a Coroners Act investigation for every child is to determine who died, where and when they died, and the manner and cause of death.

Mark holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Law, a Master’s in Disaster & Emergency management, and a PhD(ABD) in History and International Relations from  the Royal Military College of Canada. Mark is in his 27th year with the Ontario Provincial Police and is permanently seconded to the Office of the Chief Coroner.
