Eric John Large is an Elder & survivor of the Blue Quills Indian Residential School, former Chief of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation, and longest serving Councilman, in the reserves history.Presently, Eric is the Lead Investigator for the Blue Quills Missing Children in UnmarkedBurials Inquiry, and Co-Chairman of the Acimowin Opaspiw Society (AOS), Board ofDirectors. Additionally, Eric is one of the founding Executive Members that created and established the AOS.
Previous to leading the Investigation, andGovernance of the organization, Eric was the Indian Residential School Coordinator andResolution Health Support Worker, for Blue Quills Residential School. In 1978, he completed the bachelor of education degree program at the University of Alberta. Later, he attended a management studies program at Blue Quills First Nations College from 1987to 1989. Large loves serving people in the field of native politics, federal and provincial policies, federal legislation and public services. His interests include health care, social welfare, youth development, social science, culture and traditions, history and writing. He highly values respect for all people regardless of their origin, heritage, and belief.He is the author of the intriguing Selected Contemporary Native Issues in Canada, and is a former chief of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation with an impressive record of service to his people. His book is an assortment of pieces regarding Canada’s aborigines, including appendices, statements, press conferences and memoranda written byLarge during his public career, as well as five short chapters of original prose
